Suspect Charged In Deadly Prince George’s County Shooting: Police

A suspect has been charged with fatally shooting a 43-year-old man near an apartment complex in Adelphi last week.

Jamar Welch Sr., 36, of Takoma Park, was charged with first- and second-degree murder and other offenses, PGPD said Tuesday, April 2.

He is accused of shooting Charles Dent of Hyattsville during an argument near the 1800 block of Metzerott Road in Adelphi around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 23.

Dent was found wounded from gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene.

Welch was arrested in Washington DC, where he remains pending extradition to Prince George’s County.
